MORE INFORMATION FOR YOU- WHAT AM I LOOKING FOR?
1) Self-Portrait
The self-portrait consists of you creating an image of yourself using only various shades/hues of green. Do not include any form of text (no words, no sentences, no letters). Explore the possibilities of using different shades/hues of green to evoke a message and/or a feeling. Try to translate your feelings about environmental issues through this self-portrait. The self-portrait does not require you to include an image of yourself- think icons, symbols, signs, lines, etc.
How/What to Submit: The project must be saved as a PSD file and copied on a CD to be submitted along with a final JPEG file (properly labeled- see syllabus). You will also upload your image to the Project008000 website, with a brief statement about your self-portrait.
2) Urban Space Transformation
Go out with a camera and explore urban Montreal. Take various photographs of a particular public space that screams ENVIRONMENT ISSUE!!! Choose one photograph among your collection and add, subtract, remix it. Think of culture jamming and the work that is being done with Ad Busters. Don’t renovate a space! Jam a space with a cultural statement about environmental issues. Think about using a “before and after” layout-let your audience see what the original space looked like prior to the transformation/remix. Think about locations that are commonplace (metro station, bus station, restaurant, gas station, grocery store, etc.) and how each of these spaces could be changed to help he environment. For example, think of the possabilities with the following photograph:
These are some examples of urban transformation:
